another update long overdue

Last update, 20th February 2011. So two months later, this ought to be a long update. (let’s hope it will be, as I type this entry, hopefully more topics cross my mind and i can ‘pen’ them down here.)

First off, WORK. Alright, just 7 weeks or so left. Life in camp and range ain’t too bad now. No evil monsters to boss me around. Thank God for that. However, been ending later recently. Book out at 7plus in the evening more often. Pity pity. well, just endure, hold on and I be ORD’ing soon. Looking back, 2 years didn’t so long after all. Tough time was probably trainee days for first year, but once those times are over, it is a much more relaxing place than I thought it would be.

General Election is just round the corner. Yup, I’m a citizen and above 21yrs old as of 1/1/11 means, I’m eligible to vote. Honestly, I believe I know more about the political scene of nations abroad than here in Singapore, where I live. Man, 2 more weeks to Polling Day and I’ve yet to make any considerations, much less decision. However, thankful for Government’s generous Growth Dividend. Pity I’m living in private estate, didnt get as much. Alas, not complaining, love where I live. Best residential environment.

Football world! I think I’m losing passion and interesting in the whats-going-on of it now. I do know in fact, is how Arsenal once again disappoints and lose when it matters most. Pity, I guess another season’s wait. Maybe its high time I jump ship and root for another club. mhmm, definitely not Manchester United though. Even Manchester City sounds better. wahahaha.

My taste of music I’d say, is now really stabilised. Its Beatles or Beatles or Oasis. Why the double mention of the former? I guess I actually enjoy their music more than that of Oasis. and the legendary partnership beats that of the brothers who always quarrel. I still admire and look up to Noel Gallagher though. He’s really cool. Got wow’ed big time by this concert back in 1997, Music for Montserrat. Attended by the Queen, and performances by some of the biggest names in the music scene ever. Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Sting, Paul McCartney. The joint performance led by McCartney, their together effort in Hey Jude was… LEGENDARY!

Girlfriend matters (read it however way you want it), yeah, its been quite long I’d say and yet, it remains a sensitive topic for some. Okay, enough jesting, I should say its been great, if not marvellous, if not, never better. and… I shall leave it as that. Maybe its high time the world should know about this, no more hiding, not like we ever intended to in the first place.

Other relationships with people hasn’t been all good. Too many friends overseas for extended period, my circle of friends seem to have shrunk significantly considering that I don’t have that wide a circle of friends. However, its not all bad without good. Been in constant contact with my buddy. Oh, I do miss her. Lost my before-church lunch partner. Not emo about it actually since… she be back soon! Just a week after I ORD. So Ziyi if you read this, please read carefully! wahhaha. Another dude who left is Elisha who went to Canada, the great white north. Surprised I’m actually in really frequent exchanges with him. My my. Even he is a whee bit surprised, thinking I’m not the sort that keep up with the whatsgoingon of people lives. (the last part is in fact, true)

Spiritually, I’m doing pretty decent I’d say, or I’d like to think. Then again, not for me to decide, this is something which can never be good. Gotta and its possible, gotta keep getting better! A friend shared some story of his many encounters with Christian, this friend at work, how he hates Christians. I guess there are black sheep in every body and… an unnatural number of so in the people who claims to hold this belief. His statement when I said I’m a Christian, “I HATE CHRISTIANS. ALL SO FAKE.” From a logical view point, I’d take it that these Christians he meant are either, real hypocrites or over radical as many non-believers these days actually refer to them (over radical) as fakes. Led me to conclude that preaching is irrelevant, practising is divine.

Physically, I’m doing better already. Back doesnt hurt as much or as bad, could run 2km but not anything more or faster. pity, pity.

All in all, I’d say life past 21 years or so have been good. No major hiccups, no life threatening circumstances. I look forward to what’s to come and all great stuff and bad days ahead. mhmm, the great stuff mostly.

YAY. Just 2 or 3 more days and nightmare will be over! Well, I wouldn’t say nightmare, but being slaved around by an ass isn’t what you would call heaven on earth.

Past couple weeks hasn’t been the most wonderful time in my army career. In fact, it sucked. Frustration and falling sick, ewww, gotta hate it!

Well, things better get better! But the thought of so many people flying off for extended period of time… that sucks. First there was Ziyi to UK, then Ashley to Netherlands, then Sharlene to Vietnam, then my beloved Huzaen (my awesome neighbor I know since 6) to Sydney, and coming Wednesday, Elisha to Vancouver. (Rats! No more awesome foursome walk home after cg)

I shall end here for now. Be back soon, or so I say. HAHHA

Well, one Monday gone and 18 more before I leave this accursed place called army. Sorry, but I don’t think much of SAF as an organisation, nor do I really respect people who signed on proclaiming lies such as “country before self” or going around telling others “its not what the nation do for you but what you do for the nation”. You see, people are all the same, greedy and selfish and isn’t it for the money that they signed on? (I’ve encountered many who are honest about it) Its all about money in peace time.

Well, still you gotta admit, it takes skills to be an officer. Nope, that doesn’t include warrant officers. You see, I realised, most, almost all the warrant officers I see are simply old farts throwing their weights around. tssk. An incident where this short old UGLY wrinkled WO scolded me because he’s higher rank and suggested that if our roles were reversed, he will lick my boots. Seriously? He’s implying that I should lick his? Not that I am hateful or unhappy with how the nation is governed, but if this is the kind of people that’s hired as civil servants, I’m sorely disappointed.

Well, junks aside, I realised I can’t seem to get excited meeting most people. :S opps.

And emo shit aside, I got myself Baileys Original Irish Cream, with a hint of Mint Chocolate, in short, Baileys Mint. LOL! Well, technically I didn’t get myself, a friend got it for me. Alright, that’s all for now, next time!

Well, its 6th Feb, two in the morning. Let’s pick up where I left off.

On Friday, 4th Feb, Chinese New Year Day 2, spent the usual over at my paternal grandma’s and watch them gamble and all. Got pissed at a few of my relatives over some incident and I stormed out of the house. Those losers. :S Come dinner time, headed to a restaurant and have 8 course dinner with my relatives from my mom’s side. Sat with all my cousins (around my age) and had the first fun moment this entire New Year. LOL!

5th Feb, Chinese New Year Day 3, left Malaysia after lunch. Was planning to avoid the evening jam over at the Immigration and… Yes we did! Reached home at around six in the evening, unpacked and rest a bit before heading out once more.

Caught Black Swan in cinemas. OMG. Its excellent, its amazing! It better win Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards! So thrilling and yet disturbing. :S Pity to all kids, you need to be at least 18 to watch.

Well, all in all, its amazing to be back home. Simply too sensational! Been trying to plant the idea of leaving earlier in my dad’s head for days and it worked! wahahaha!

P.S. oh, an interesting note. Last year, my cousin bought 3 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs and reared them. Now the stats stand at 13 rabbits and 9 guinea pigs. They sure breed fast. Especially after knowing they already had 5 or 6 rabbits and 3 or 4 guinea pigs for food. :S I heard it was rabbit stew.. well, anybody?

Lunar New Year day 1. Mhmm, wouldn’t say its the most happening. It feels entirely, say, too much a routine. Wake up, ate nothing, snacks mainly, collect ang baos. I’m SHOCKED, I turned down a request from my cousins to play Texas Hold’Em. (Nina, gambler much? Nope!)

The whole day, it seems like almost my entire clan is there. 40 plus people under one roof, well, every where, there is only noise, even in the bedrooms. Couldnt help it but sat under a tree and took a nap. WAHAHAHA.

Managed to get a Malaysian SIM card, got my cousin to top it up for me, so for anyone trying to contact me, text me on my Singapore line and I’ll reply with the Malaysian one! hahaha. However if I don’t, it means I’m saving costs ok? :S

Had only a proper meal today, just had my supper. Its just past midnight now, and there isnt anything else to be done. In fact, I’m just counting down to returning home. 2 more days. CAN’T WAIT.

Buddy, I’ll check package rates when I get back, and if ok, I’ll send you pineapple tarts my aunt made. heheh.

P.S. I’m craving for some Baileys. Is Baileys Caramel nice?
